Russians are always late
This morning, Juliana and I where
very late for school (as usual) – and on our way there we bumped into a couple of parents whom even
laughed/smiled at us.
It is kind of funny.
We just can’t seem
to make it on time.
Juliana: Mom are we super late? why is everyone laughing at us?
Me: They are not
laughing – they are smiling (they where laughing) and we are not super late just a bit late.
Juliana: Karl will
be so mad at me. He always hates when I am late. He gets upset with me and only
with me.
Me: What do you
mean he only gets upset with you?
Juliana: Kostia is
always late and he never gets upset with Kostia just because he is Russian.
Me: Whaaaat?
Juliana: Kostia is
Russian so he doesn’t really know that here in New York they care about time so
much. Like teachers and stuff…
Me: And stuff?
Because he is Russian he doesn’t get it?
Juliana: He just
moved to NY one year ago and in Russia it wasn’t like NY.
Me: How do you know
this? He told you this?
Juliana: No… I just
know it.
Me: How do you know
it?
Juliana: Because he
is always late, always, always.
My daughter’s
reasoning its getting too complex for our morning runs.
Kostia is indeed
always late but it has nothing to do with him been Russian. It’s his Mom’s fault
(like it’s mine) and she is the nicest person.
Although I have to
say, this morning she was one of the parents “laughing” at our lateness - the
Russian happened to be in time today.
Russian mothers, Mexican
mothers, Chinese mothers (well maybe not the Chinese), all mothers can be late.
It’s just not easy.
